Monaco has a wide range of hotels and, although many are in the luxury class, there are still some in the medium and budget range if you are prepared to hunt around and stay a little way outside the centre of Monaco. Whatever your pocket you are advised to book your Monaco hotel early.
When staying in Monaco you could splash out and book in to one of the world’s great hotels – the Hotel de Paris on the place Casino. As well as its superb position, the public areas and accommodation are sumptuous. It houses two of the finest restaurants in Monaco – Le Louis XV and the Grill de l’Hotel de Paris. Room rates are as steep as you’d expect at €600 and upwards.
Hermitage - in Belle Epoque style, with 211 rooms. Its fine position looks down on the Port of Monaco and it’s just a short distance from the Monaco Casino.
The Balmoral is one of our Monaco favourites, well positioned above the Port and with nearby parking; prices are from €160.
Near to the beaches at the northern end of Monaco is the Méridien Beach Plaza. It’s pricey (€350 upwards) but has great views.
The largest of all hotels in Monaco is the Monte-Carlo Grand Hotel with 600 rooms and 20 apartments, and prices from €300 upwards. It has a wonderful position overlooking the sea and is close to Monaco Casino.

If you ever fantasise about living amongst the rich and famous, renting a furnished apartment is about as close as you'll get. Riviera Pebbles has a number of luxury apartments in the area called Beausoleil, which borders the small principality. Because of the difference in postcode, the apartments tend to be better value for money, and are located only a few minutes walk from the main attractions of Monaco.
There is little on offer in Monaco for youth hostel backbackers or in the way of budget accommodation but good deals are around. The Hotel le Versailles is popular, with rooms from €70, situated near the Monaco stadium and the rail station, a few minutes from the beach. You could try the Alexandra - prices are from around €120 or there's the Hotel de France, near to Monaco train station and decorated in Provencal style. Expect to pay around €80.
Many on a budget break stay in nearby Nice or Menton. Any of the resorts along the coast offer rapid transfers to Monaco by train. Nice, with a massive selection of hotels and apartments, is only 15 minutes away, while Menton to the east, on the Italian border, is even closer and offers a good range of accommodation. Alternatively stay over the Moncao border inland in France where there is an even wider choice.
